Upcoming Holiday Season
Well, it’s November, and now that Halloween’s craziness has passed, the stores are all moving forward to the upcoming holiday season. The winter holidays are almost upon us! Only 7 more weeks until Santa visits. That means in the upcoming weeks, there will be Christmas lights, trees, and gingerbread houses everywhere. Of course, we shouldn’t forget Hanukkah either! It starts on December 16th this year, and goes until the 24th. While it’s still not December yet, that’s not stopping people from getting into the holiday spirit!
The upcoming holiday season means a lot of things. Snow is coming, and we all need to break out our warm snow boots. Even if it’s not a White Christmas, it’s important to be careful for slippery ice or slush, as well as keep your feet warm! Winter coats, mittens, scarves… I’m sure you all have these things ready to go already, but moving ahead you’ll definitely need them, so either stock up or get them out of storage!
Decorating is important for getting into the spirit, too. I know it’s still early, but kids get really excited about the holidays, and they like to help decorate! So if you plan now, you can make the best of your décor.
People often argue about Christmas music in stores. How early is too early to start hearing those sleigh bells jingling? I think most people agree as soon as November starts, it’s okay, but some think it should wait until after Remembrance Day. As long as I don’t hear it all day long, and maybe one song here or there, I’m fine with it. You can’t wear headphones while you’re working at most jobs, so you’re out of luck if you’re stuck somewhere super festive.
Of course, the most important part of the upcoming holiday season is the gifts! You can’t wait until the last minute to go gift shopping or else you will be running around in giant crowds. And you can’t forget the people who celebrate different holidays or events as well! People have birthdays and other celebrations during the holidays, and that can be hectic, and bringing gifts to holiday parties… The list doesn’t end! If you order gift baskets, it takes some work out of the picture. Sending a thoughtful, beautiful gift is easy this way. Just make sure you order ahead of time!
Ordering ahead of time is smart. That way, the gift won’t arrive late, due to weather or other reasons. It is smart to send the gift ahead of time not only for that reason, but because it will be more impactful! When the week of the holiday rolls around, people already have had gifts and parties. If you send your gift at the start of the month, they have time to appreciate it. It is great to give time for this, especially with a beautiful gift basket. Gift baskets can add cheer and decoration to a room as well as hold lovely goodies to snack on.
Another lovely thing to send ahead of time is baked goods! Your time and effort that goes into cookies, cakes, and pastries will surely be appreciated. Not only do you have a hand-made, thoughtful gift, but your house will smell great! Baking gingerbread always fills the kitchen with such a lovely aroma. It’s an easy gift, if you are good at baking, and you can make lots for everyone to enjoy. The only thing is to find enough time to do so! I usually end up doing my baking last-minute.
The upcoming holiday season can be stressful, but I hope you can take time to enjoy it.
