Toronto Zoo
It been a long time since I’ve visited the zoo but I remember having so much fun. There are a number of zoos around the Greater Toronto area like Bowmanville and Oshawa but none compare to the Toronto Zoo. The Toronto Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world and has over 5,000 animals representing over 500 species. The zoo is divided into seven sections signifying these regions: Indo-Malaya, Africa, the Americas, Australasia, Eurasia, Canadian Domain and the Tundra Trek.
The zoo is open all year round. The costs vary by age and are as follows: General Admission (ages 13 – 64) cost is $28.00. Senior (ages 65+) cost is $23.00 Children (ages 3 – 12) cost is $18.00 and Children (2 and under) are free.
In addition to the exhibits, there is also a water area and a few rides. The rides include Gorilla Climb, TundraAir, Carousel, camel and pony rides. TundraAir is zip line experience where you can see the entire Tundra Trek section of the zoo from above. This ride has an additional fee of $12.00 per ride or you can get a package of 4 rides for $40.00. The Gorilla Climb is a family ropes course where guests of all ages climb easy to hard ropes up to three stories from the ground. Make sure you wear proper close toed shoes otherwise you will not be permitted on the ropes. This ride costs $9.00 per climb. All of these rides incur additional fees on top of your admittance.
My must see animals are the panda and polar bear exhibits. I also like the cheetahs and lions located in the African Savanna Region. I am a huge lover of cats big and small. The 10-acre Tundra Trek is where you will find the polar bear exhibit which makes up half of the Tundra Trek. In 2013, the Toronto Zoo welcomed two panda bears from China. Er Shun and Da Mao spend their days eating bamboo and providing entertainment for all visitors! Come support the Toronto Zoo.
