The New Year Is Here
The transition to being back to work and our regular schedules has been tougher than any other year! Well, I guess this happens every year but, in the moment it feels like it is harder than the last time! The feeling of seeing 2015 on the calendars, documents, and etc. will definitely take time to getting used to. But, this holiday is definitely something my family and I needed. The kids have just finished their university finals and work is as stressful as always. But, everyone at work got so impatient and anxious! It must’ve been that everyone was just yearning for the holidays to approach!
This holiday, we surrounded ourselves with family! Occasionally, the kids had their get-togethers with their friends but, everyone knew that Christmas Eve and Day and New Year’s Eve was a family occasion. The weather outside on Christmas day was beautiful. And, since almost everything was closed for the holiday, we stayed home and spent most of our time preparing for the delicious feast we had for dinner. We treat the dinner on Christmas Eve like Thanksgiving dinner. It was just another day to say a thank you to everyone. And maybe, a thank you for the gifts we were about to open that evening 😛 !
We are not a Christian household but we celebrate all good occasions! We all have friends that celebrate it so, why not?! But, during every holiday season, we are preparing for the most important day in the year. The NEW YEAR! The dates changes from the days of 2014 to the very first day of 2015! My husband makes sure everyone is thinking of their goals and resolutions for this year. Also, we try to remember our 2014 resolutions to see what we have achieved. My resolutions have included “stop biting my nails” for every year that I could remember! But, this year I have taken the extra measures and went out and bought the disgusting polish to prevent one from biting their nails. This is the year!
It is a day to give, not only the kids but, everyone some motivation to do better. It is a chance to leave some things in the past and to get a fresh new start. Who doesn’t like a fresh new start!?!? It is often the day, I decide to ditch all my left over chocolate from Christmas and hand it over to the kids! It is a guilty pleasure of mine!!
With every year, we gain more knowledge and experience. It allows us to make the new year better than the last year! We are the people who can make this year better for ourselves and the people around us. So, Cheers to everyone for a great 2015!
