Summer Long Weekends
The summer time can often be jam packed with different plans, activities and vacations. Thankfully, there are three long weekends during the summer that help make it a little less stressful and can give you a well-deserved bit of rest. In addition to this, if you’re working for most of the summer, it allows you to have some time off and gives you time to enjoy the nice weather during the short summer months!
The first long weekend of the summer is always Canada Day weekend. This year, Canada Day (July first) falls on a Wednesday. Depending on where you were, some offices close on the Wednesday itself, whereas others will just stay closed on the Monday (June 29) and then will be open on the Wednesday. Although it’s preferable to have the Monday off so you have a long weekend, having the Wednesday off can be nice—and either way, it means time off work that you can spend with family and friends! There are always so many Canada day activities that are great for the whole family, and there are bound to be barbeques and get-togethers with friends that you rarely get the chance to see! This long weekend is a great way to transition into the summer. Especially if you have kids, and they are doing any summer activities like camps, sports or workshops, it gives them (and you) time to rest and prepare!
The next long weekend is the Civic Holiday at the beginning of August. This year the Civic Holiday long weekend falls on August 1st and goes until August 3rd. Having a long weekend in the middle of the summer is always nice. Often times people take advantage of the long weekend and will plan their vacations so that the they fall during the long weekend, and that way you don’t have to take as many vacation days! As well, if you’ve been busy doing things with your kids it just gives you a nice chance to take a break and relax.
The last long weekend of the summer is the Labor Day weekend, which this year falls on September 5th through 7th. The Labor Day weekend is always a great weekend, because it gives you one last chance to really enjoy the nice summer weather. It also gives you time to relax and get your kids ready for the school year ahead!
