Easter Egg Hunt
The long weekend is closer than we all think. While everyone is excited for the extra day added to their weekend I sit here getting anxious to host all the Easter celebrations. Every year, we make this weekend an eventful one, especially for the children. Not just the two kids I have, but the 25 different kids from the entire family. We have kept a yearly tradition to make sure the boys and girls keep close to each and every one of their cousins. And it’s my turn! This year I take on the challenge of hosting the Easter long weekend.
It seems like a whole lot of work but the end results are worth it. For the Saturday, I have planned the infamous Easter egg hunt for the kids. At first, I had thought to set up the Easter hunt in the backyard. I imagine the yard filled with the children running back and forth searching for the multicoloured eggs. But the weather is just so darn cold still so we have set up the hunt in our basement. The easter egg hunt is my favorite event within the weekend. Growing up, I always looked forward to the hunt. I hope the children are as EGG-STATIC as I was looking forward to this event! This year, the theme colors are a soft yellow, baby blue, light green and a pretty purple. The kids and I dyed the eggs in those colours to match the theme!
The kids don’t know that I have already hidden all the eggs in the little corners. I made some of them easier for the little ones! Hopefully they find it! For the super young ones, we usually have the parents help out! But, I do have a confession! While shopping for the hunt, I could not resist buying some extra Easter goodies for myself! Chocolate bunnies, Kinder Surprise eggs, Lindt Eggs and the list could go on! YUM! Evidently, the hunt is the one event that I’ll break my diet for.
After the hunt, everyone including all the adults will be super hungry. A home cooked meal just gets everyone so much closer. And Easter is all about getting together and closer to everyone you love! I know this sounds impossible but I am planning to take on the challenge of cooking for just under the hundred people attending. I have been offered plenty of hands from my sister and brothers so I should be okay! Wish us luck!
