6 Things to Do On a Hot Summer Day
Trying to find a way to overcome boredom and stay cool during hot summer days? Here are six ways to beat the heat and have fun with your kids, friends or on your own. Firstly, you can go on a picnic! Go to your local park and set up a blanket in the grass. Pack a basket or bag with toys and enjoy a healthy lunch of sandwiches, lemonade, and fruit.
Secondly, make your own popsicles. Use different fruit juices or mix up your favourite smoothie. If you want to make smoothie pops add frozen fruit, yogurt, milk and a little bit of honey in the blender. Then add your juice or smoothie into a Popsicle mold. If you don’t own a mold you can use a plastic cup but don’t forget to add a Popsicle stick as a handle!
Thirdly, relax in the shade and read a book. If you don’t already have a book on the go, head to the air conditioned library and search for the perfect book. Love stories make the best summer reads but if romance novels aren’t your thing then go with a mystery book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Once you have the best book for you, grab an ice cold drink, find a shady spot, set up your lawn chair and relax!
Fourthly, watch a movie. Get comfortable and re-watch your favourite movie or watch one you haven’t seen. If you’re the type to get hungry during a movie then pop some popcorn. Turn off the lights and close the curtains to keep the sunlight from streaming in.
Fifthly, go to the beach. Nothing’s better on a hot day than heading to the beach. Pack your bag with your favourite towel, sand toys, sunscreen, snacks and drinks. The activities to do at the beach are endless. You can build sandcastles, swim, draw in the sand, read, toss a ball, walk the shoreline, go on a scavenger hunt, or fly a kite.
Lastly, have a water gun fight. If needed, go to your local dollar store or Walmart and buy water guns and water balloons. Pre-fill about 40 water balloons and keep them in a bucket for easy access. Gather a bunch of friends and make teams. Be sure to have some rules such as boundaries and no headshots. Make this summer enjoyable by keeping busy and refreshed during the hot days!
