What Not to Write About on Facebook
I don’t know about you, but I think there are certain things that should and should not be shared on Facebook. Don’t get me wrong—I love Facebook, and use it quite regularly. It helps me reconnect with old friends, stay in contact with my family, see what friends are up to and even spy on my kids! But there’s some people who don’t use it for the right reasons.
The first type of person I’m talking about is that person who is constantly updating their status, writing a description of every minute of their day. I don’t mind seeing a cute post once in a while about how the subway was crazy slow or how your favourite restaurant was way too busy to get into this past weekend—but what I don’t care to know is exactly what you’re doing, all day every day, 24/7. Like, for example, I do not care that you just went to grocery store and picked up your kid from school! I just don’t! It’s not something that interests me and let’s face it, we all do that also! So it’s nothing exciting! I don’t even understand it! Do people just have an overabundance of time on their hands with nothing better to do than post all about their boring lives on social media?
I also hate the people who use their kids for attention. Now, some may defend themselves and say that they just genuinely love posting about their kids, but something about it doesn’t sit right with me. For example, posting on Facebook that your son or daughter got into university is clearly showing off, plain and simple, and it sure draws a lot of attention. I don’t mind a cute family photo here and there, like at Wonderland or out at the movies, or trick-or-treating. But when you are constantly posting things about your kids’ accomplishments, you’re just using them to get attention—and what makes me even angrier is it works!
The worst are the people who are just constantly showing off. Whether it’s their kids, being promoted at work, buying a new car, anything really—people are so showoff-y! Everyone is so caught up in their own lives and thinks that everybody wants to read about what they have to say! Turns out that people might not guys!
So to sum it up, use Facebook in a way that doesn’t share every detail of your life, doesn’t use your kids for attention, and doesn’t show off (or at least not too much—a little bit of showing off is okay) and you’ll be set!
